After learning fill systems 01, 02, 03, and 04, it is time to mix them up. In fact, that is where the creativity really begins!
Because these 4 fill systems share the same building blocks: groups of 4, 6, and 8. So, whereas we used the same building block four times at the beginning, we can now mix them up!
Try practicing 1-1-2-2, or perhaps 3-3-4-4, or maybe even 3-3-1-2…
And to make it musical, and really feel the flow, have them play along with these tracks. They are three songs that go at the same tempo, but all three have their own feel (blues rock, even feel, triplet feel).
And let’s try this now with the building blocks of 6!
